We are hiring Permanent & Locum anesthestists (Family Medicine & FRCPC) to join our teams in Yellowknife & Inuvik, Northwest Territories.

Here, you’ll have the chance to locum in a supportive environment while exploring breathtaking landscapes and engaging with our vibrant community. This is an opportunity to work with an award-winning peri-operative services team. The successful candidate will work at the Inuvik Regional Hospital, the northernmost hospital with an operating room on the continent. This 48-bed facility includes long-term care and a 14-bed acute care unit featuring two labor and delivery rooms. Physicians in Inuvik are part of a primary care team, providing services at seven or more community health centers through scheduled travel, phone, and Telehealth consultations. Yellowknife, NT Your anesthesia skills will serve as a local gateway to all surgical subspecialties. Procedures within your scope will be well-supported by our local OR team, and there is an opportunity to scrub in with visiting surgical specialists. Your practice may include open or laparoscopic surgeries across various specialties, including general surgery, urology, orthopedics, plastics, and gynecology. There are two ORs running a day with one on call anesthetist who covers urgent ORs, consults from the ED, and labour and delivery. Stanton Territorial Hospital has general surgery, orthopedics, obstetrics/gynecology, urology, ophthalmology and ENT surgical cases. Edmonton is our referral centre for specialized care. Yellowknife is a beautiful place to work and visit in the summer, with midnight sun, a fantastic collegial atmosphere and a modern OR. Our full-time team consists of ESS Physicians, FP-Anesthetists, and General Practitioners, along with Obstetrics and Gynecology, Orthopedic Surgery, General Surgery, ENT, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Ophthalmology and Psychiatry.

Locum Information:

Locums can be as short as 1 week-1 year! A guaranteed daily rate for scheduled shifts Travel stipend: Locum in Inuvik between January 5-March 31 2026 and receive an increased travel stipend! Accommodations and travel arranged by the health authority on your behalf Eligibility to bring a guest through our Friends & Family Travel program by working 5 shifts during December 20, 2025, and January 4, 2026. We’ll reimburse you up to $2000 to bring a guest by January 31st. Additional incentives for recurring locums

We preferentially hire staff physicians with FP-A training but do occasionally have locum opportunities for FRCP anesthesiologists. Typically, locum durations are at least 1 week, and we have new incentives for locums who provide more than 75 days of service within the NWT. Our locum physicians enjoy an increased guaranteed daily pay rate, and new incentives for long-term-recurrent locums. We also provide travel stipends, travel support, and accommodations. There is no practice overhead or management.
